WANDERLUST EUROPE

Instead of lugging 10 lbs of Mamiya to Europe, I chose to bring my toy Holga instead. Sure the shots would be different, but the distortions brought on by Holga’s infamous light leaks were just what I needed to create a mystical, whimsical guise to my photos.
Countless valleys and Alpine meadows; the air was misty and cool. Vast sloping landscapes, sheets of sheer mountain ascending high into the sky. The Swiss know how to keep well with their arsenal of remedies as smithy’s, bakers, cheese-makers, and artisans perform age-old trades and crafts.
A sojourn in Milano, bestowed upon me, an opportunity to view the Duomo di Milano. Taking five centuries to build, this gothic master piece is one of the fourth largest churches in the world.
Our journey continued to Cefalu, Sicily via Palermo. An intermixture of Greek, Carthaginian, and Roman architecture composed of distressed, unpolished forms.
Exhibiting Sicily’s pastoral characteristics and ancient essentialities, this sea side town has a fascinating cultural backbone filled with mystery and intrigue. Contrast in tonal value along with striations of fibrous grains are explored within the texture of this age-old, time worn region of Italy.
